Just
a few things to note…
School
starts at 8:40 AM. All Kindergarten
students are to line up outside the doors on the south-east side at the front
of the school (known as the Kindergarten doors), and will enter the school with
their teacher. For those students who leave the school for lunch, they will meet
the class at the back of the school by the playground at 12:45 PM, upon returning from the lunch break.
***If your child is late when arriving at school (after
8:40AM or 12:45PM) you will need to bring your child in through the main
entrance, as all other doors will be locked. Please stop by the office and have
your child pick up a late slip before bringing them upstairs to our classroom.
Dismissal for lunch is at 11:40 AM.
Students staying for lunch will eat in the small lunchroom with the lunch supervisors. After
eating lunch, they will go outside for recess with the rest of the students in
the school. Students going home for lunch or to daycare will meet their
parents/daycare staff at 11:40 AM at the Kindergarten doors.
Dismissal time at the end of the day is 3:40
PM. Students going on the bus will meet in front of the office. I will be
bringing all students down to meet their parents or daycare.
Please meet you child outside the Kindergarten doors promptly at 3:40. Thanks.

Please
note the Early Dismissal time of 3:10 PM, on the first and third Tuesday of
each month. Please refer to the school calendar for specific days.
-
Please
observe the area of NO PARKING signs on Silver Ave. in front of the school.
Communication:
- - Please
check your child’s red Communication Folder every night and take out any
papers. Please return it to school in your child’s backpack every morning. If you have any notes to
send, please put them in the red folder. If there are any notes from school,
that is where you’ll find them.
- - Please
sign up for the REMIND text messages. This will ensure you are kept up to date
on all upcoming events and daily notes.
- - Check
our class and school blogs
Please send a healthy snack for your child to have during the morning and
afternoon snack times. Great ideas are vegetables, crackers, fruit, etc. In
consideration of our earth and the environment, I encourage the use of the 3
R’s…Reduce, reuse, recycle. With this is mind, consider sending your child’s
lunch/snacks in reusable containers whenever possible. The less garbage, the
better!
Stevenson-Britannia school would like to provide a safe environment for all
students. It is for that reason that peanuts/nuts
and all foods with peanut produces are not allowed at school. We also have students with allergies to fish and seafood so be aware of what you are packing for lunch.
Please note: There are no microwaves for students to heat up their lunch. You
will need to send warm foods already heated in a thermos. If you peel or cut up
fruit for your child at home, please continue to do so at home and send it to
school in a little container in the lunch bag. If your child requires a spoon
or fork, please include them in the lunch bag too.
Birthdays: If you plan on sending birthday party invitations with your child to
school, please put them in your child’s red communication Folder and I will
distribute them by putting them in the appropriate children’s red folders.
Toys: Please do not allow your child to bring toys to school. We have lots of
toys and activities to play and learn with at school. The exception will be on
your child’s sharing day.
Volunteers: If you are interested in volunteering in our classroom/school,
please let me know and we will set up a time for you to come in and help us
out. If I require volunteers for a specific activity, I will send out a REMIND
text note asking for help.
RECESS: All students at Stevenson go out for morning recess at 10:10 AM, after
eating lunch at about 12:15 PM, and afternoon recess at 2:10PM.
Please put your child’s name or initials on all of his/her personal belongings.
If at any
time you have any comments, questions, or concerns please feel free to call the
school at 204-832-1359 and leave a message for me, or send a note in your
child’s Communication Folder or email me at ngriffiths@sjsd.net
I am looking
forward to working with you and your child this year
Miss Nicole
Griffiths
