First day of Kindergarten!

Welcome to Kindergarten in Room 8!
Friday was filled with firsts for our class.
First kindergarten friends
First class meeting
First recess
First day of school
With many more to come throughout the year.
We played some games to get to know each other and the students had the chance to explore the classroom more. This included organizing their cubbies, eating snack, and playing with some of the toy centres. We also practiced how to go outside for recess and lineup safely after recess. In the afternoon we practiced writing our names and did some yoga for relaxation as the day drew to a close.
Our class is quickly learning to work together as a team. All day I heard "please" and "thank you". "What's your name?" And "Do you want to play with us?"
I'm so proud of all my new students for the kindness and patience they showed on the first day. It's not easy coming into a new classroom with a new teacher and 21 new strange faces. But our class was friendly and welcoming from the very beginning. Shy smiles and big eyes started the day and big  confident smiles and the sounds of laughter brought it to a close. I'm so excited for all the adventures the rest of the year will bring!
